Yes. The core service — email Q&A (up to 3/month), general Arabic source guidance, one 30-minute online session per month, translation assistance up to 150 words, and comprehension assessment up to 2 questions — is completely free for non-commercial academic use. No payment, no subscription.

Basic Arabic literacy is recommended — the ability to read Arabic script and identify root-based words. The service is designed for researchers who can navigate Arabic texts but need expert support with classical morphology, complex syntax, rhetorical structures, or manuscript conventions. A request form submission will help assess your starting point.

Classical Arabic (Quranic exegesis, medieval philosophy, poetry, prose), Modern Standard Arabic (academic journals, institutional reports), Hadith literature, Arabic manuscripts, archival documents, and 19th–20th century Nahda transitional texts. If you have a specific text, mention it in your request.

Guidance is available in English, French, and Arabic. Select your preferred response language in the request form. French-language support is particularly useful for researchers based in France, Belgium, Canada, and Francophone Africa.

Extended support for Arabic dataset review, corpus curation, and NLP quality assurance is available under the Beyond the Basics tier and is assessed individually. Submit your request describing your project and Dr. Lachgar will advise on the appropriate form of collaboration.

Upon request, a formal written record of sessions and topics covered can be provided for your doctoral portfolio. Institutional documentation is available on request.

Conceptual Mapping Theory (CMT) is an analytical framework developed by Dr. Lachgar that analyses how Arabic structures meaning through Cognitive Categories and Conceptual Schemas. For researchers, this means gaining access to the conceptual architecture of an Arabic source — not just a surface translation — which is essential for accurate scholarly interpretation.
